Pedro & Avery | German Village Engagement Session | Columbus, Ohio

Some love stories are built in the same city. Others are built across miles, time zones, and long stretches of waiting. Pedro and Avery’s story is the kind that proves distance has never been a barrier to real connection.

They have been in a long distance relationship for the entirety of their time together. Every chapter written through travel days, countdowns, reunions, and trust. Now, as they prepare to tie the knot, it felt only right to meet in a place that holds meaning for both of them. German Village in Columbus, Ohio.

A Same Day Flight and a City Worth Wandering

I flew out the morning of the session with one layover in Chicago and landed in Columbus roughly three hours before our shoot time. Just enough time to explore, get my bearings, and let the neighborhood guide the vision for the session.

German Village has a way of slowing you down. Brick streets, historic homes, quiet corners, and little moments that feel untouched by time. I spent the afternoon walking the area, scoping locations, and mentally mapping out how the session might unfold.

Eventually, I took a break for breakfast and a warm cup of coffee at the sweetest little shop on Sycamore Street called Sycamore. Exactly what I needed to recharge after a long morning of travel and before meeting Pedro and Avery.

Meeting Pedro and Avery: Shy Beginnings Turned Comfortable Moments

When Pedro and Avery arrived, I noticed a bit of shyness between them and me. It’s natural when meeting new people, especially for a photo session. To ease the mood, I kept things casual and spent a few minutes chatting with them while setting up my camera. This helped build trust and allowed their true personalities to shine through.

Their story of maintaining a long-distance relationship was inspiring. Despite the miles, their connection remained strong, and it showed in the way they looked at each other. That kind of love makes my job as a wedding photographer incredibly rewarding.

Exploring German Village Together

We moved through the spots I had scouted earlier, capturing candid moments and posed shots that reflected their personalities. German Village’s cobblestone streets, lush gardens, and historic brick buildings provided a timeless backdrop that complemented their story perfectly.

Pedro and Avery weren’t afraid to be playful or vulnerable in front of the camera. We laughed through the session, even when a few minor mishaps happened—like a near fall or the scramble to find a restroom. These moments added authenticity and warmth to the photos.

A Surprise Stop Back at Sycamore Coffee Shop

One of the highlights of the day was returning to Sycamore coffee shop. Pedro and Avery were so welcoming that I asked if we could take a few shots inside. Even though they were about to close, the staff kindly accommodated us. The warm, cozy atmosphere inside the shop created a perfect intimate setting for some final portraits.

This stop was a reminder of how small moments and places can hold big meaning. For Pedro and Avery, German Village and Sycamore are more than just locations—they are part of their shared story.

Why This Session Stands Out

This engagement couple session was one of my most enjoyable experiences as a travel wedding photographer. The combination of a meaningful location, a couple deeply in love, and a relaxed, fun atmosphere made every shot feel natural and heartfelt.

Pedro and Avery showed me how love can thrive despite distance. Their willingness to be themselves and embrace every moment made the session flow effortlessly. It’s a great example for other engaged couples planning their own sessions: being authentic and having fun will always shine through in your photos.
